Anyone been/goingto Burning Man and lives in Miami?? I'm very much involved in the underground/burning man scene in SF and I just moved to Miami. The thing is, I love this scene and the creativity and culture that comes with being part of it. The music, the community, the parties, the crazy burning man inspired fashion... I love it. I'm wondering if there is anything like it in Miami.. or if Miami has its own cool underground scene. Are breaks big in Miami.. is there a group of burners out there???

Mr. Gartel is considered to be the "FATHER" of the Digital Art movement around the world for over 30 years. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Joan Whitney Payson Museum, Long Beach Museum of Art, Princeton Art Museum, PS 1, Norton Museum and in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History and the Bibliotheque Nationale. His biography for his pioneering efforts is included in "Who's Who," "Who's Who in the East," "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in American Art," and "Who's Who in the World."

Born and raised in New York City, Mr. Gartel had the opportunity to teach Andy Warhol how to use the Amiga Computer, went to School of Visual Arts, with fellow art student, graffiti artist Keith Haring, where he earned his BFA degree majoring in Graphics, and started his electronic career working side by side with Nam June Paik at Media Study/Buffalo in upstate New York. GARTEL went to INDIA this year for a month where he shot the footage for his next multimedia DVD project to be released in 2006.

although the parties are fuckin great I am trying to come up with ways to make it more worthwhile from a business perspective - I am a producer/writer/laptop DJ and have several independent releases that I will probably shop around down there...as well as tring ot get a gig down there.

if there are any positive biz stories I would love to hear them(it could look like someone agetting a deal, increasing their fan base, selling loads of CD's or any variation of that)

When I first created this tribe I wasn't sure of anyway to connect people soldily through the use of a internet. Well that has changed. We have a room open in a nice 4BR, 3BA house, from the 19th to the 28th. The house is right in South beach, on the W side of Flamingo park, about 8 blocks or so from the strip... If you're as hip as we are and have $1000 to burn, the room is yours.

Just returned from WMC 2004. Overall, it was a success. Weather was mild compared to past years, I've heard. Parties were mellow as well. However, universally, it seemed mellow compared to 2003. Feedback?

never been to WMC yet, though i've been wanting to. went to miami a week after the even last year. this year is in the works though. i'm all about deep soulful house, been falling in love with the classics being that i'm in the motor city. that said, i can't get away from my attraction to the tech vibe that's making itself apparent in the deep house seen. so, deep, techy, soulful, classic house. oh yeah, i dig on jazz and funk and disco too!!

gotta give my respect to yunus for teachin me the basics as a dj. only been in this game for a little over 1.5 years now and i've already had 2 residencies in the detroit area. 9 south in Pontiac, which they destroyed and turned into space (YUK!!!!!!) and now i'm at Carbon in Hamtramk with the Souldega crew who i run with now. I'm working on starting a 24 hour online show with detroit flavored house music, but the legal issues are spinning my head around. anyways, i know i'm gonna have loads of dj's from up here down at shows for wmc so it should be good times.

outside of that, i do interactive design. working on a new look for my site right now so i'm not about to promote something that isn't exactly together.

Musical greetings all!

Well, we've gone to WMC the last 8 years and plan on attending again in 2004. Those dates should be dropped any day now.

We love house music. Hubby's been spinning since the mid 80s. Started out in NY and now in NC. We plan and execute weekly and monthly parties/events under the name glamoore productions. DJ name hubby: LeMoore; my DJ name: Vinyl Vamp. House music is our forte'.

Yunus, your name is familar. Did you happen to be a part of the original globalhouse group back in the 90s (I think that is what is was called). With John England and Peter Grey and that group??

Anyway, excited to hear more about the WMC and perhaps have a chance to meet you all.
